Ethan Davenport is already Boston’s most eligible bachelor, in his second season with the Boston Renegades and has eyes for the girl behind the visitors’ dugout who has been  staring at him for a year.

That girl is Daisy Robinson, a journalism student at the University of Boston, a die-hard Renegades fan and determined to give Ethan a run for his money. He knows in order to have a chance with her, he needs to change his ways but he may just need her to wait until the off-season.

But with new found love comes challenges and Ethan and Daisy have to deal with his crazy schedule, school finals and his presence on her campus for some much needed media training. For Ethan nothing can come between him and Daisy, until a secret that she’s been keeping threatens to destroy them both.

This is the first book in Heidi McLaughlin’s new series about Major League Baseball players—The Boys of Summer.  This book is about Ethan Davenport, third baseman for the Boston Renegades.  He is a young, up and coming player.  Single, no commitments.  Women flock to him but know that it’s only for one night.  Not really looking for anything more.  Except that girl that is at every home game just above the visiting dugout.  She gets under his skin for almost a year.

Ethan finally makes his move and begins to fall madly for Daisy.  Daisy is an innocent, although she has quite a bit of sass to her.  I enjoyed their flirting.  Daisy is also a big Renegades fan and knows her baseball.  She harbors a pretty big secret.  Ethan may not be able to forgive her once he finds out.

Overall, a very light romantic read.  Everything is in Ethan’s POV which always lends itself to some humorous moments.  I loved that his family, ex-girlfriend and teammates all suggest he is turning into a girl, when he begins to fall in love.  The story is somewhat predictable, but the witty dialogue and Ethan’s POV keep the story interesting.
