Caleb White has been a lot of places and made a lot of decisions he isn’t proud of. He’s ready to settle down and figure out who he really is. Where better to do that than Last Chance, the home he was ripped away from at sixteen? A fresh start is in order, but he has no idea how the hell to do that when he’s not even sure what he wants in the first place.

Ryan Daily is a pro at hiding his insecurities. He’s never fit in and has spent most of his life knowing there’s something missing. Just when he thought he’d found it, his whole world fell apart and he lost everything.

Then comes a sleepless night in a twenty-four-hour café, where Caleb and Ryan forge a connection full of laughs, junk food, and whispered secrets. In the middle of a budding friendship, they see the blossoming of desire neither of them expected. Ryan has kept his heart protected after having it shattered, and Caleb—no stranger to attraction—finds what he has with Ryan is on a whole new level from anything he’s experienced before. In a world of black and white, they bring each other color.
But life is never simple. When the past comes knocking, Ryan and Caleb will have to reach through the darkness to find the light they see in each other or risk slipping into the shadows for good.

Riley Hart has written some of my all time favorite couples in this genre.  For that reason I keep coming back to her again and again.  This new release may surpass COLLIDE for me as my most beloved.  At the very least it will be a close tie.  It doesn't matter so much the sexual orientation of this couple.  This is a story about humans.  It's about friendship and heartache.  Acceptance and belonging. As the title suggests, it's about taking a ordinary black and white life and finding the person who can fill you in with color.  Gah!!!  Such a great story!

We know about Caleb from the first book in the series as the first love of  Shane.  But we don't actually meet him until he comes back to Last Chance for a fresh start.   A place to find himself again.  Ryan has been in Last Chance working for Shane for some time now.  He too leaves behind a past that weights heavy on his heart.  This is a slow build to the romance part but it is perfect for this couple.  Friendship draws them together and that connection is what makes their love extra special.

Overall  a very touching read.  Loved the humor sprinkled throughout.  Loved how patient and supportive Caleb was with Ryan.  Looking forward to more Last Chance, but I am afraid the next book just won't match up to this.  I hope I'm wrong.

Thanks for writing this couple, Riley.  Fantastic!

At eleven forty-five, he made his way downstairs to see that Ryan was already there waiting for him. They were supposed to be at Shane’s around noon. “We taking my car? I’m not sure I can be seen in yours. I have a reputation to uphold.” Caleb watched, waiting for Ryan to react to his ribbing.

He did, looking up at Caleb through a fan of his dark lashes as Caleb stood on the stairs. Jesus, he was sexy as hell. His hair was messy, which Caleb fucking loved. He wore jeans—not the ones Caleb said he liked—and a button-up black shirt with long sleeves.

He looked so damn innocent, unsure, as he gave Caleb a playful grin and rolled his eyes. “Not flashy enough for ya, huh? The car doesn’t make the man, Salt Fiend.”

The silly nickname sat warm in his chest. “Oh, fuck you.” Caleb reached the bottom step. “I know what kind of man I am, thank you very much. Grab your keys. You can drive. I didn’t want to anyway. Might even take a short nap on the way home—my belly will be so full and all.”

“Well, shit.” Ryan followed behind him. “I didn’t think this through. Do I get a take-back?”

“Nope.” Caleb grabbed his jacket from the chair, then reached for Ryan’s, handing it over.

“Thanks.” His eyes darted away, looking almost bashful. “We need a coatrack.”

They’d managed to break through the first layer of tension; Caleb could feel it. Unfortunately, the bastard seemed fucking thick, and he thought they still had a way to go. “We do.”

Ryan felt his pockets, Caleb assumed, for his keys. His guess was confirmed when he pulled them out and said, “We should be on our way.”

They made it almost to the door before his stupid fucking mouth got in the way. “You look good, by the way.”

Ryan stumbled. Caleb reached out and wrapped his hand around Ryan’s bicep. “No need to get all flustered, Sweet Tooth.”

“I’m not flustered.”

“Not even a little?” Caleb asked.

“Maybe a little.”

He had a feeling that was the case. “I’ll give you space. We’re good, though? You and me? I didn’t fuck up?”

“No.” Ryan reached out then and fixed Caleb’s hood, which had accidentally gotten tucked into the back of his jacket. “You didn’t fuck up. We’re good.”

Caleb nodded. That was exactly what he needed to hear.

This novella is a great addition to the Scorpius Syndrome series.  It takes us back in time to events that occur prior to the first book of the series.  It gives us a glimpse at the birth of the Brigade.  Fans of the series will know this as the Presidents elite warrior group that was to protect the US at all costs.  We meet several of the team.

The story focuses on computer guru's Ellie and Hugh.  Ellie has worked for Brigade for awhile and offers to bring on Hugh so that they can hopefully stop home grown terrorists from taking advantage of the spread of Scorpius by taking down infrastructure. Hugh specializes int he "what if's".

Ellie and Hugh have a history.  Romance from afar and unrequited love.  When the truth comes out, it appears second chances are always worth the wait!

Lots of action and a bit of suspense.  Looking forward to meeting up with the Brigade in the future if our survivors can ever find them.  Tough bunch of folks.  This novella can be read as a stand alone with enough introduction to the dystopian world.  However, I recommend the whole series as a fantastic read.

"All-consuming, deep, seductive, so damn emotional—this book is everything I expect from Jewel E. Ann.”

Pam Godwin, New York Times bestselling author

Look the Part, an all-new “emotional and breathtaking” standalone from

Jewel E. Ann is LIVE!

LookThePart Full.jpg

Flint Hopkins finds the perfect tenant to rent the space above his Minneapolis-based law office.

All the T’s are crossed and I’s dotted on Ellen’s application. Her references are good. And she’s easy on the eyes.

Until …

Flint discovers Ellen Rodgers, Board-Certified Music Therapist, plays music. Bongos, guitars, singing—not Beethoven administered through noise-cancelling headphones.

The cut-throat attorney serves up an eviction notice to the bubbly, constantly-humming redhead who's too sexy for her own good. But luck is on Ellen’s side when Flint’s autistic son, Harrison, takes an instant liking to her. A single dad can’t compete with guitars—and rats. Yes, she has pet rats.

This woman …

She’s annoyingly happy with a constant need to touch him—adjust his tie, button his shirt, invade his space, and mess with his mind.

Still …

She must go.

Their lust-hate relationship escalates into something beautiful and tragic. This sexy, romantic-comedy explores the things we want, the things we need, and the impossible decisions parents and children make to survive.

A Touch of Cinnamon by Bethany Lopez

(Three Sisters Catering, #2)

For the past year, Tasha has thrown herself into her catering business with her sisters, but she’s been keeping a secret. The hot, moody owner of Prime Beef is the man she left behind in college...the man she thought she’d never see again. He’s also the only man she’s ever loved.

For the past year, Jericho Smythe has been waging a war with himself. Does he want to know why Natasha broke his heart and left without looking back? Hell yes. But he’s paralyzed by the glimpses he’s gotten of her at Three Sisters Catering and he hasn’t been ready for a confrontation.

Neither of them are content with their lives, but so much has happened since those stolen moments in college. Can the right amount of spice remind them of the love they once shared? A Touch of Cinnamon may be all they need to give Tasha and Jericho back the richness they’ve been lacking.

4.5 Cinnamon Stars

I have come to love this author over the past year through her Lewis Cousins series. This is book 2 of the Three Sisters Catering and it is just and sweet and romantic as her others books. This one is baby sister Tasha's story. Second chance love gets me every time.

Even though Tasha abandons Jericho as college to come home to care for her mother, her heart does not forget. Years have passed and Jericho has set up shop in her home town. His restaurant is right across the street from the catering shop. Finally, they are forced to speak to each other in order to keep the peace before her sister's wedding. And guess what?? Jericho's heart hasn't forgotten her either.

So much romance int his one. You just want to scoop up Jericho and keep him for yourself. Perfect match for Tasha. A bit of suspense in here just for added spice. Read Book 1 first--you'll love that one too. One sister to go and I think she has a few secrets that are going to come out!

Release Blitz & Review: Picturing Perfect

Title: Picturing Perfect

Series: Meet the McIntyres #2
Author: Rebecca Barber
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 25, 2018

GAGE

One night with Carly in my arms shouldn’t change anything.
I’m not looking for a girlfriend.
I’ve already got enough female drama in my life.
Between my crazy mother and unsettled sister, I’m fully loaded.

Why then can’t I get the image of Carly’s long legs out of my head?

Why can’t I stop imagining how they’d feel wrapped around my waist.

It’s a good thing she’s not interested.

Either am I.

Am I?

CARLY

It was an innocent New Year’s kiss.

It was nothing. Just a dare from his little sister.

Why then, can’t I get him out of my head.

Why can I still feel and taste his lips on mine.

I want more. Much more.

But I don’t want to want more.

I don’t have time for more. There’s no room in my life for more.

There’s certainly no room in my life for a man like Gage McIntyre.

Is there?

This is the second book in the series by this author.  It can be read as a stand alone but it was wonderful to be able to catch up on all the ongoing drama from the first book.

This is about younger brother Gage, the local veterinarian, and Payton's best friend, Carly.  We met Carly in the first book.  Both leads have troubling family life.  They have been dancing around each other since Carly came to the small Australian town.  They bump into each other in when they least expect it.  And although neither professes to wanting a relationship, they both can keep their minds on nothing else.  New Year's Eve sends them on a journey of discovery and and opening of hearts.

I liked that there still in unrest with the McIntyre clan.  It was nice to meet the youngest siblings finally.  Troubled doesn't seem to cut the surface where this bunch is concerned.  I am happy that Carly along with Payton have been able to be balms to the family.  Their HEA are perfect for sharing love all around.

Great secondary characters/friends.  Dreading the issues in the next book but still looking forward to what will come.

I’m just me. A clumsy, introverted, bubble bath loving, chocoholic who would rather read a book than go shopping. And god forbid if you try and make me shoe shop!

I’m one of four kids to school teacher parents. A wife to a football obsessed husband. Mother to a fur-baby who isn’t aware of how big he is. Aunt to the most crazy/adorable little girls. And sister to two very determined sisters and one easy going brother.

I live in Canberra Australia and work too many hours a day at my day job.

I’m a book whore who can easily (and happily) read a book from start to finish in a day and when I do have spare time, you’ll find me in the writing cave.
