Excerpt:
If you’d asked me when I was in college what I thought I would be doing in ten years’ time, this wouldn’t have been my answer. Life as a private investigator isn’t as exciting as one might think. Sure, there are moments of danger which get my adrenaline pumping and when that happens, no other high
can compare. I used to live for that feeling and for a while you could even say I was addicted to it. But the choices we make have consequences and one decision can change everything.

These days I do a lot of watching and even more waiting. I’m the guy people pay to find the truth buried under all the lies. Eventually, I see past the surface of who you’re pretending to be, revealing all that you’ve kept hidden and I know firsthand appearances can be deceiving.
This is a debut novel for Jacob Chance and it appears as though he has the craft down pat. Fair warning that this is book one of two so there is a cliffy at the end of this one.
The main characters meet under unusual circumstances. Kyle may "know" Janny because of his undercover work, but nicely gets to know her on accident as they run into each other outside of his work.
Amazon categorizes this one as Erotics/Romance. There are sometimes very fine lines separating one genre from the next. As I was reading this book, I found myself wondering what was different about this book. I occurred to me that it has been awhile since I read a book that is truly more erotica than it is romance. It doesn't make the book bad. Truly, the author steams up the pages with his descriptions of Kyle and Janny together.
The story premise is unique and there is some suspense and mystery in the story. But those elements take a back seat to the explosive intimate relationship between Kyle and Janny. Starting the book with that in mind, the reader will very much enjoy this initial offering by Jacob chance. I look forward to finding out what happens with this couple in book 2.
*ARC received for an honest review.
