Delve into an exciting new stand-alone novel in New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall's "fast-paced and humorous" (Publishers Weekly), "utterly addictive" (RT Book Reviews) Immortal Guardians series.
Nick Belanger can't stop thinking about the single mother who lives next door. She's smart. She's funny. She's so beautiful he can't stare at her too long for fear his eyes will start to glow. But Kayla thinks he's just an ordinary guy who works in security. Finding out he instead is a powerful immortal warrior who hunts and slays psychotic vampires for a living may not go over well, particularly since she has a daughter she doesn't want to endanger.
Kayla Dorman can keep neither her gaze nor her thoughts from straying to the man next door. Who can blame her really? He is the epitome of tall, dark, and handsome with smart, charming, and honorable thrown in. He's also a few years younger than her and surely would not be interested in a single mom who hasn't dated since her divorce. At least that's what she thinks until an accident nearly takes her life and Nick risks all to save her.
The dynamics of their relationship swiftly change. The friendship they've developed over the years deepens into love as the two spend every minute they can together, laughing and teasing, never suspecting a threat may lurk in the shadows. But that threat soon strikes, making it clear that Nick is the target and his enemy doesn't care if Kayla gets caught in the cross fire. Though Kayla bravely rises to the occasion and is determined to do whatever it takes to help Nick defeat his enemy, Nick is terrified of losing her. Can he identify and eliminate his new nemesis before the man takes everything from him?

Top 5 Vacation Destinations for an Immortal Guardian
As we approach summer, my mind naturally turns toward thoughts of vacations, both future and past. Because my Immortal Guardians spend their nights hunting and slaying psychotic vampires, they don’t get much (if any) vacation time. BUT if they did, here are 5 Vacation Destinations I think they’d like:
1
Rjukan, Norway
This quaint town receives no direct sunlight for 6 months out of the year. Since the peculiar symbiotic virus that lends Immortal Guardians their immortality, heightened senses, and greatly enhanced speed and strength also causes photosensitivity that can be extreme in younger immortals, this would be an ideal place for Immortal Guardians to vacation. Seven years ago the town installed giant mirrors on the mountainside to reflect sunlight down into the town, but as long as the immortals avoid that small pool in the center, they can enjoy spending both nights AND days outdoors.
2
Utqiagvik, Alaska
This is another town that has a long stretch of darkness. Every year from mid-November to Mid-January the sun never rises above the horizon. So younger immortals who don’t fare well in daylight would love it, particularly since they can regulate their body temperature and not feel the cold.
3
The Charlevoix Region
I imagine if Nick and Kayla snuck away for a vacation it would be to Quebec. Nick’s parents were among the first French settlers in Canada. So I’m thinking he and Kayla would find a nice, secluded chalet in the magical setting of Charlevoix for a romantic getaway. Then perhaps Nick would take her on a tour of his old stomping grounds.
4
Taprobane Island
Seth, the immensely powerful leader of the Immortal Guardians, has actually started to take some downtime since he fell in love and married. Because he’s impervious to sunlight, I’m thinking he and Leah would enjoy a nice, relaxing, uninterrupted getaway to the beautiful Taprobane Island in Sri Lanka while David and some of the other eldest immortals oversee things for him.
5
The Shetland Islands
I’m thinking Aidan would like to take Dana to Scotland’s Shetland Islands. The two of them could take a break from things, kick back and relax in a charming little secluded cottage. And since Aidan is an elder immortal who can withstand quite a bit of sun exposure, they wouldn’t have to remain indoors during daylight hours.
What do you think? Any vacation destinations you’d care to recommend for my Immortal Guardians?
