Penalty Play by Jami Davenport IS NOW AVAILABLE!

Single dad and star defenseman Matt LaRue lives for his kids and hockey. He's had one failed marriage and doesn't have any interest in going through that hell again. As conservative as they come, he can't comprehend his unexplainable attraction to a free-spirited female who changes hair color more often than his boys create new excuses to avoid doing their homework.

Violet Strider is fleeing the past. She has a new start, new identity, and is hiding a big secret. Matt and Vi are a classic case of opposites attract, but neither expects the attraction to extend beyond a few hot trysts, especially Vi. Only her heart isn't listening, and her head is following her heart down a path of no return. As Vi grows closer to Matt and his boys, she fears her secret could rip them apart.

Relationships are built on trust, and Vi's house of cards is about to take a tumble. Can Vi confront her past and finally put it behind her, while earning Matt's forgiveness?

I am a sucker for single dad stories.  This one hit all the markers for me.  Single dad, adorable but a bit unruly children, opposites attract relationship and oh, yeah,  a hockey team as well!

Loved Matt to pieces.  Trying hard to do the right thing by his boys but maybe missing out on life in the mean while.  He has been burned so he doesn't want to jump into anything blind.  Violet has been on his periphery since they have mutual friends.  She is so far out of his comfort zone, he isn't quite sure what to do with her.  Circumstances bring them closer together and the sparks really start to fly.

Violet is fun and quirky but to me Matt makes the story.   I enjoyed seeing the relationship build after the sex was out of the way.  Trust is what it all comes down to--right?  It was great to see Matt's teammates again from previous books.

Great story!

This is the third book of the series by Wendy Smith.  I admit being intrigued by Owen from the first two stories.  This book brings to light just what a great guy he really is.

Owen and Ginny meet at his brother's wedding.  They have a chemistry but Ginny knows all about Owen from the small town gossips.  He is a player and she wants no part of that.  Well, maybe a little bit of that but she is determined to make Owen work for it.

I saw the twist coming a mile away but it didn't detract from the relationship building happening between Owen and Ginny.  I also enjoy how this author is writing this as a family saga.  There are multiple chapters about Drew & Hayley and Lily and Adam and what is happening in their lives as well.

Still really happy with the closeness of this group of brothers.  Looking forward to seeing how the last two fall and keeping up with everyone else right along with them.  Humor, steamy chemistry, many touching moments and kiddos all around---great romantic read!

Release Blitz & Review: Jack

Fall in love with seven sexy and irresistible soldiers who find their courage and heart tested like never before in the battle for love! This multi-author collaborative series of contemporary romance novels is brought to you by bestselling authors Barbara Freethy, Roxanne St. Claire, Christie Ridgway, Lynn Raye Harris, Julia London, Cristin Harber and Samantha Chase. You won't want to miss a single one!

Former Marine Jack Carter has left Afghanistan behind, but after a close encounter with a suicide bomber, he now battles a hidden enemy. Ashamed that he succumbs to heart-stopping panic attacks, he refuses to leave his house and makes excuses for failing to meet up with his best friends. He’s got the perfect set up—his job allows him to work from home, he hires out the dog walking and grocery shopping and he has subscribed to a meal delivery service that comes complete with a cook. Jack expected a lunch lady, but he gets Whitney. She’s bubbly, she’s way too chatty, and his dog loves her more than him. But he forgives her all of that because she’s sexy as hell and a bright spot in an otherwise lonely day.

Whitney Baldwin has been groomed to follow a long line of highly successful lawyers into an equally successful family law firm, but she’d rather bake a cake than read a tort. Her dream is to open her own patisserie. To say her father is disappointed in her career path is an understatement—if she can’t pull this off, she’ll have to head home with her tail between her legs. In a last bid to make her dream a reality Whitney accepts a job with Dinner Magic and lands an insanely handsome client in Jack Carter. His crazy good looks captivate her, but it's something about his hyper-awareness of her combined with a vulnerability that is an irresistible recipe.

The smoldering attraction between Jack and Whitney quickly turns molten. But when he makes an important promise that he can’t keep, Whitney can’t fathom how this relationship is going to work. Will Jack ever be able to conquer his worst fears for true love?

This is the 5th book in a wonderful series by a variety of authors.  The series follows 7 friends as they come back home and find their HEA's.  What I have loved so far about the series is that each book seems to be a continuation.  The authors have thoughtfully included facts and characters from previous books.  It reads as though the same author has written them all.

This one takes a step away from that flow.  It is the first book that I would say could be read and enjoyed as a stand alone.  Jack had a traumatic experience in the military and as a result has become agoraphobic.  Whatever he can have delivered vs leaving his home, he has figured it out.  His work lets him stay at home and write.  Until his personal chef turns his world on edge and demands just a bit more out of him.

I loved Whitney and her carefree spirit.  I also loved that she took the high road and admitted that she could stay and support Jack but she was worth more in a relationship than that.

Great commentary on PTSD.  Wonderful friends to lovers story.  I just missed the rest of the guys.  We see Zane for a hot minute and then he's gone.  Maybe that was the intent after all.  Jack has a long way to go before he is close to feeling normal again.  I just would have loved to see the support of more of his friends as his issues came to light.
'
Regardless, a great love story. Great character development.  Very much looking forward to the rest of the series!

Score one for the Carolina Cold Fury hockey team as a stone-cold badass melts for a woman who makes his blood run hot.

As one of the league’s toughest enforcers, Van Turner is ruthless on the ice. He plays hard because it’s the only way to channel the rage boiling inside, and a reputation as an A-hole is better than everyone knowing the truth. Simone Fournier is the stubborn one in her family—and that’s saying something, considering her brothers are two of the Cold Fury’s biggest stars. 5 Super Shiny Stars!

I have followed the series from the start and this one ranks among my favorites. Somewhere int he middle of the series, things seemed to fall apart or where not typical for the author. I love Sawyer to pieces and always look forward to her books. But a couple of the recent ones in the Cold Fury have been blah..

Van however, redeems everything! Not much hokey in this one but that's OK! This book has Simone! Whew what a whirlwind she is! No wonder her brothers have tried to keep a handle on her. Never to be deterred, she knows she wants Van and she is going to peel away all his defenses until she gets him. Ooo, and when they do get together---what and explosion of passion!!

This story line runs parallel to Lucas story for the first half of the book. Some events will seem familiar but they are now from Simone and Van's POV. Just overall a refreshing, well written story. The message that we are all worthy of love -- no matter what our upbringing, or what we have been told by others--shines through. So happy for this couple.

Wonderful to see Luc and Max and their parents again. Also caught up with a few of the other couples. Looking forward to the next adventure with this hockey team!

I fell in love with this book from the Forward.  A very heartfelt telling by the author as to why she wrote the story.  Historical Romance was also my first love.  And then I found Paranormal and I find I often forget how much I love Historical.  This novel brings the richness, grit and tradition of the middle ages and weaves in the fantastical world of witches and warlocks. Throw in a bit of Viking mythology and a heroine in a very non-traditional role---you get a kick ass story!

I love that the lead characters--Leoma and Braith-- are not the paranormal aspects of the story.  They are the warriors.  From their first meet, I could tell that they would be drawn together and a perfect match.  Both have great personality and an underlying goodness about them.  When they finally give into the tension between them, it seals the deal on the feelings they have been fighting toward each other.

We have some mystery and intrigue happening.  The Coven--a large and powerful group of witches--is up to something.  Leoma and Braith are able to hold them off for now.  I suspect we will have more encounters in the next book.  I was very intrigued by the Varroki.  I'll take more of them in the next book as well.

Great start to the series.  Looking forward to reading more!
