This is my first readcd of this author.  I was intrigued by the synopsis for this book.  I am a huge fan of PNR and Fantasy.  The first few chapters had me hooked. I loved the world building and the mystery behind who these two lost people could be. Loved the creativity in creature and culture building. 

But then the book went on. And on. And on.  Similar scenes. Lots of desire. Forbidden actions. This sis long book. I felt like we were getting somewhere and then everything goes back to square one. Runa and Darro need to figure out what happened to them and how to move forward. Again, I liked the world building and mythology. It was evident these two were important to life in this world. 

I made it to chapter 41. 75% done with the story. I couldn't move forward when the plotting landed on Runa forcibly mated to the man who tried to rape/kill her. No one thought to share that with her? THe people who tried were shushed. That was the only way to save Runa?  That was the rapists punishment--he got to keep her anyway?  And at the same time, the elements are whispering to Darro that this is right. This is the only way. Leave her be. Frustrating!  

Some strong editing may have brought this book into better focus. The words that are written are beautiful. There is just such a winding path through the story line, it makes the reader loose focus.
