From best-selling author Xavier Neal comes a brand-new, laugh-out-loud, paranormal romance you don't want to miss...

I swear, one minute I'm dozing off during the night shift - don't judge me - and the next I'm being told I'm Fate Mated to an ancient dragon.

An ancient dragon I couldn't help but save when he woke me up out of the aforementioned slumber - again, don't judge me.

Now this same ancient dragon - that I'm apparently destined to be with - is doing everything he can to win me over, because it's up to me whether or not he'll live the rest of his life in absolute agony or absolute bliss.

Oh, and let's not forget the fact we're being chased by elves, working with a grumpy Griffin, and have to rescue some poor kidnapped dragon before an evil corporation kills it.

Ugh. Any chance this is all some crazy dream that I can't wake up from?

No?

Well, can't blame this human for asking.

This is my first time reading this author. I love paranormal books so I am always eager to find something fresh and new. The world building had me intrigued from the start. A different twist on humans vs other creatures. Those that know and those that don't. Lots of creatures to learn about as well.

I am always down for the whole fated mates trope that goes along with shifters. And Z and Dae do have a great meet cute. Who would think a dragon shifter would happen upon a Veterinarian who also happens to be his fated mate? Lots of crazy for the first few chapters.

I liked the book. My down side of the whole thing was it wasn't laugh out loud funny like the blurb suggests. Dae and Z pick at each other. If anything Z and Silver have more of a back and forth dialogue. The brothers together are typical jokesters. I just wasn't lol like I wanted to.

The other part that was frustrating was Z and Dae's relationship. Fated mates aside, eventually the mate urge gets to them and they meld into a perfect match. Z was delaying this and thus I was not catching the chemistry between these two as early as I would have hoped.

There is potential for the series though. There will be an ongoing danger element. I suspect we will see these two again in future books. It's an ok read but not a hit it out of the ballpark type of a book.
