Scarlett
Cristiano is my enemy. He’s also the only man with whom I’ve ever felt safe. Protected.
But I have to remember that he married me with one purpose in mind. Revenge. I would be the bridge to his real enemies.
I can’t let myself forget that he isn’t the hero of this story. His hands are covered in blood. I saw that with my own eyes.
Cristiano
I thought I knew Scarlett’s past, but I didn’t know anything.
I thought I knew the worst of monsters, but I hadn’t seen anything yet.
Sometimes you have to lie to yourself to survive.
Sometimes it’s those closest to you who will bury their knives in your back.
Too many times it’s the innocents who pay for your mistakes. For your refusal to see.
I can’t let Scarlett pay for mine.
But I may be too late to stop it.

This is the second book in the duet and picks up right where book one ends. This continues the story of Cristiano and Scarlett. From the moment you pick this one up, you will be turning pages hoping and praying that the good guys win.
It takes Cristiano some time to realize what he has in the light that is Scarlett. For all the horrible she has seen in her life, her heart is able to open up and give more. Watching the two of them realize that what they really feel for each other is love was a journey I would take again.
Lots of action and there is an underlying dark element to the story. For fans of mafia books, this will be familiar.
Still some interesting side characters in this duet. I hope to see them again. Both the brothers for starters. Looking forward to anything else this author brings us!
