REVIEW
This is the second book in the Brutal Birthright series. This story took the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast and melded it into the Mafia world. Things are dark and dirty and brutal in this world but the story read like a fairy tale.
We know of Nessa from the first book of the series when we meet her brother and heir to the Irish crime family. It was great to see the story from her point of view. Mikolaj in the heir of the Polish Mafia and is out for revenge. He has been dealt a bad hand in life but then survived and was brought up as the heir apparent. His plan for revenge for his father seems like a good one. But he does not expect the tenacity and courage in the beautiful Nessa.
Slowly Nessa figures out her Beast. The chemistry between these two is electric but both are doubting if it is true. I love love love that Mikolaj respected her enough to let her heal with her family and date her traditionally until her family excepted him. Such great honor in that and in not taking what he wanted because he could.
Great writing! Can't wait for Nero's story! Whew! Grab the first book while you are at it. Great set up for the series.
