Release Blitz & Review: Give Me A Reason

Give Me a Reason by A.L. Jackson is now live!

From NYT and USA Today bestselling author A.L. Jackson comes a single-dad, enemies-to-lovers stand-alone romance about a jaded club owner and his son’s teacher…

Eden Murphy came into my club looking to make some extra cash.

A girl like her didn't belong in a place like this.

She'd get ripped to shreds.

Most likely by me.

There's nothing but sweetness dripping from her sexy little body, and I'm the monster who's salivating to get a taste.

Trent Lawson is the last man I should want.

Dark.

Dangerous.

So wickedly gorgeous he makes my knees weak.

He's also an arrogant jerk who happens to be my new boss.

When I discover his adorable son is also in my kindergarten class, I know I have to keep my distance.

But neither of us can ignore the attraction that flames.

One glance, and our hearts race.

One touch, and we’re aching for what we can’t have.

One night, and we’re falling fast.

Dragging her into my sordid world is wrong.

It doesn’t matter.

Eden Murphy is mine.

It's been awhile since I read this author.  I love a good single parent trope so I was happy to read this one.  I loved the premise. I loved finding out there was some MC background happening--I didn't get that from the blurb. And I loved the characters.  Trent and his brothers were awesome. Eden was just a pure happy light in the darkness.  TOgether, they seemed to work. She softens his rough edges.

So, I did finish the book. It was a struggle though. The writing style was cumbersome to get through. i haven't read so many incomplete sentences since I was proofing my kids papers when they were in school.  I get that the dialogue was taking place in the characters heads. But, come on. It didn't endear me any more to the character to read how he maybe would have grunted out what he was thinking.  I also could not get past Trent referring to Eden as "girl".  He never once used woman, lady, friend.  Always referred to her and spoke to her with "girl".

Great story. Interesting characters both lead and secondary. I would like to get their stories as well. Loved Eden's bestie and her dad.  If the next book is written in the same format, I will pass.
