Mia Marceau is finally on her own. Now that she and her husband are living apart, she’s finding the peace she was desperate for. She spends her days in classes and late nights bartending, making her own way in the world at last. After what she’s been through, as long as her husband leaves her alone, she doesn’t plan to rock the boat. He still has the power to hurt those dearest to her, and she can’t demand a divorce with such a high cost.
A chance encounter with Mia has Anton hoping for a shot he never thought he’d get. And while she’s drawn to the intense, serious hockey center, Mia’s leery about playing with fire. That’s all Anton has ever known for Mia, though—a living, burning desire that won’t be denied—no matter the cost.

4 HEARTS
This book is the first in a new hockey series by Brenda Rothert. She kicks it off with the Captain and my goodness what a tangled mess this one starts off with.
Anton has been wanting Mia from afar since he met her. She has been married to his team mate all this time and off limits. Now things have changed but Mia is still in a whole heap of trouble. Once it all is out in the open, Anton offers his friendship and nothing more. He is able to help Mia get her life right and she helps him by caring for his uncle.
Things begin to change but not after these two become good friends. There is a bit of angst and heart ache but for the most part this book is a slow burn of friends to lovers.
I enjoyed the hockey in this one. I liked Anton-- a really great man --even if his methods made me scratch my head a bit. There are some other interesting characters on the team and I am sure we will get to see them find their HEA soon.
Overall, not a bad start to the series.
