This stand alone by Lauren Blakely will have you feeling all the roller coaster ride of emotions you can imagine. It is not an easy read by any means. But the author is able to lighten the load with sprinkles of humor and some sweet sexy times sprinkled throughout the story.
This is Andrew's journey. He is crippled by the pain of loss. Holland is a life long friend and one time lover of Andrew. They agreed to part ways when she went overseas to go to school. She has always been there for him. Kudos for Holland in sticking to her guns about starting their relationship back up at this point in time. The book follows Andrew as he not only heals his heart but opens it again to find the love of his life.
I loved that Andrew's brother left him some little bread crumb trails. He knew that Andrew couldn't step away from solving a mystery and that adventure also brought him closure. I loved the globetrotting travel and city life scenes in Asia. Andrew's relationship with his brother's dog is so heartwarming. And finally, watching Andrew and Holland so at ease with each other, even when they are just "friends" just made for good reading.
Overall, just an emotionally well written book. So happy that I got to go on this journey.
