This is the second part to Mal and Slade's story. You will need to read the first book before grabbing this one. On the DL was an awesome read and left us with a bit of a cliff hanger. This book picks up a bit later in time from the ending of book one. It focuses on the couple trying to make things work as Slade goes back to being a pro baseball player and Malone tries to fit in his world without loosing herself.
I had hoped to see all the parts that weren't shown in this book. What happened when Malone confronted Slater? We get a tidbit remembering the night but not the action. There are still some secrets between these two and the book takes some time to unfold those.
It's a good book. Honestly, I get the idea of duets. The anticipation leaves us wanting the rest of the story. But this one could have been condensed by at least a 1/3 and tagged on to On the DL to round that book out to something fantastic. There were parts that dragged. Mal and Savage are interesting characters and have years of time to make up for.
Loved seeing Caleb from MTF series and his family again. Really loved the ending to this story and the epilogue. Good sports romance without much drama.
