Nick Bennet said good night after going on a date with
possibly THE girl for him. Then she
disappears. Doesn’t answer his
calls. Doesn’t come back to school. He goes on with his life although his heart
is not much in the game. He gets drafted
by the NFL. Plays the best football of
his life. Lives the life of privilege. All of this, but still never forgetting his
Grace.
Two years go by and by chance Grace Monroe now lives in
Florida near Nick. Second chances never
looked so good. Nick is determined to
not let Grace get away from him ever again.
The attraction is undeniable but they both have some things
to work through. I liked that this was a
slow renewal to their friendship. There
was some conscious effort to protect their time together and make it there’s. When they do finally get together, all the
stars align and they both realize there will never be another to hold their
heart.
I liked that the story involved so much family and family
history. Family makes us who we are and
good or bad, relationships need to be built with the respect of family in
consideration. Nicks brothers and Grace’s
family and whole town play major roles in the story. All the secondary characters are
interesting.
This is a stand alone book, but big brother Shaw has had his
HEA already and I am assuming the middle brother is getting his book soon as
well. Not so much a sports romance but a
great second chance story. A Fair amount of humor, makes it easy to get caught up in the story. This was my
first read by this author and I am happy I picked this one up.

Ahren spent her formative years living in an active volcano. There her family made collectible lava art. She studied rock collecting at the Sorbonne in France. There she met the love of her life-her pet pig Sybil. She returned to the states and started writing. She is happily married to a guy who used to live under a bridge and she met while pole-dancing. Now, meet the real me. I grew up in the south and consider myself a true “Southerner”. Most of the special locations mentioned in my books are reflections of my favorite places. Living on the Florida coast, my family spends a lot time at the beach which is where I usually can be found with a book in my hand.
