Review: Trouble Walks In

Title:  Trouble Walks In
Author: Sarah Humphreys
Published: August 2, 2016, Sourcebook Casablanca
Genre: Contemporary, Suspense

Big city K-9 cop Ronan McGuire loves women, loves his dog, loves his job - but when old flame Maddy Morgan moves into his jurisdiction, he can’t think about anyone else.
Ronan knows she’s way out of his league, but he’s determined to help Maddy live life to the fullest.

Maddy has immersed herself in work and swiftly made a name for herself in the hot New York City real estate market. She’s looking for safety, not love, but Ronan McGuire is as persistent as he is sexy, and his crooked smile is hard to resist. But all other concerns are wiped away when Maddy goes missing and Ronan and his bloodhound K-9 partner are tasked with finding her and bringing her home.

I've loved this author for awhile now.  I have read all her paranormal work but this is the first contemporary from her for me.  I didn't realize is was a 2nd book but it can totally be read as a stand alone.

I liked how Ronan and Maddy go from friends to lovers.  They have known each other their whole lives yet not been together.  Tragedy allows Ronan to make his move but Maddy may still not be ready.

The McGuire family was absolutely wonderful.  I look forward to ready more about them.  The book has a suspense element that tied in nicely to the plot and didn't overwhelm the story HEA story line.  Of course Bowser is one of the best secondary characters in the book.  Wouldn't have been the same without him!

Great writing. Great read.  Look forward to more from this author.
