Scott Hildreth is s prolific self published writer and this is his first foray into the traditional publishing world. The Gun Runner is book 1 in the Mafia Made series. It will leave you wanting MORE!

Michael Tripp and Terra Agriloi meet by chance. Terra is impressed with his fighting skills. Both are hopeful to run into each other again. Well, that's the surface plan anyway. What they don't share with each other is the true nature of their business. Tripp is a wealthy Gun Runner and Terra is a wealthy Mafia Princess. 

Never good to start a relationship on secrets but off they go. Tripp is a perfect hero for this story. Honorable, chivalrous, and smoking hot! Loved his view on when to have s3x. Love that he wanted to get to know Terra first before he committed. And really loved that he fell head over heels for her. 

The book has plenty of Hildreth's trademarks: Great comedic timing, creative s3x (I guarantee you won't look at fitting rooms the same!), a little bit of angst, and most important: a statement on the human condition. In this case, do we do what we have to as society dictates or due we do the right thing to try and correct the wrongs that society has wrought? Tripp does what he feels is right to help the underdog succeed even if he stretches the law to get that done. This book also brings movie ready action scenes, some suspense and a peek into the Mafia family from Tripp and Terra's viewpoints. 

Fair warning--this is not a finished story. Book 2 will continue where book 1 leaves off. Not a huge cliffhanger but not an HEA either. Wonderful secondary characters in Tripp's band of Runners. Looking forward to seeing Tripp and Terra share more of themselves and working through the angst that that is going to bring.

This is the first book I have read by this author.  I was intrigued by the synopsis.  Single parent books get me every time!

This tells the story of Andrew and his sweet daughter Bell.  Andrew has sworn off of committed relationships but as he says, he isn’t dead either.  He meets women on his terms and then moves on.  He happens upon his sister’s boss as he is dropping Bell off for a weekend with her aunt.  Amelia is smart and incredibly s3xy and wants nothing to do with Andrew. 

Our boy is persistent, though.  His hope is to have one incredibly hot one night stand.  It seems as though their arrangement may not be that simple.  Once the heart becomes involved, things are up for grabs. 

I really enjoyed Andrew and his family.  He has his own baggage about relationships.  But, I really admired that he was able to do some self-reflection and realize Amelia may mean more to him than an occasional encounter.  He’s broody and s3xy and a wonderful dad.  He has a great support system.

I just could not connect with Amelia.  She comes off cold and uncaring.  Even in the throws of passion she doesn’t seem to make a connection with Andrew.  By the end of the book, I was coming around to her.  She still remained a cold fish swimming around on the periphery of Andrew’s warm and loving family and friends. 

I enjoyed the premise.  Overall great writing and I did enjoy the book in the end.  I look forward to reading more by this author.
