New York Times bestselling author Joanna Wylde returns to the “wild and raw”* world of the Reapers MC with the story of Gage and Tinker…

The club comes first.
I’ve lived by those words my whole life—assumed I’d die by them, too, and I never had a problem with that. My Reaper brothers took my back and I took theirs and it was enough. Then I met her. Tinker Garrett. She’s beautiful, she’s loyal, and she works so damned hard it scares me sometimes . . . She deserves a good man—one better than me. I can’t take her yet because the club still needs me. There’s another woman, another job, another fight just ahead.
Now she’ll learn I’ve been lying to her all along. None of it’s real. Not my name, not my job, not even the clothes I wear. She thinks I’m nice. She pretends we’re just friends, that I’ve still got a soul . . . Mine’s been dead for years. Now I’m on fire for this woman, and a man can only burn for so long before he destroys everything around him.
I’m coming for you, Tinker.

4.5 Burning Stars

I enjoy this author so much.  She pulls no punches when it comes to writing MC life.  If you are looking for a book with a sweet couple who might be a little rough at times, than this is not the book for you.  This book has violence, heartbreak, brotherhood, lies, loyalty, cheating, tension, and steamy s3x.

Gage is planted in a small town to find out what is happening with the feeder club set up there.  He pretends to get with the President's sister in order to get inside information.  What he doesn't plan on is finding Tinker.  And he really doesn't count on falling head over heals for her.  He wants nothing more than to scoop her up and be with her forever.  But loyalty to his club comes first.  Even though he knows he is breaking her heart, he needs to put an end to the evil infiltrating the town.

What makes this story special, is all the secondary story lines.  This book basically runs parallel to what happens in the first part of Painter's book.  We see the activities from Gage's point of view.  but the author brings us more.  We see life in a small rural town.  We meet best friends who would do anything for each other.  We see a family still struggling after a loss.  And we see the very real danger of mother nature threatening to take all of that away.

I don't know that this was the best book in the series, but it brings a unique perspective we haven't seen in the previous stories.  Gage and Tinker's story line is at times predictable.  But the heart of the story--the true meat--is about devotion.  Each character presented touches on this.  They each deal with it differently but it is what drives the behaviors in the story.

Looking forward to more from this author!  Love her take on the MC world!
