Release Blitz & Review: Courage

From New York Times Bestselling author Kristen Proby comes an all new novel in her Big Sky series, Courage. This is the first story in the Heroes of Big Sky, all about men in uniform in Cunningham Falls!

Courage by Kristen Proby is now live!

Natasha Mills feels like she's loved firefighter Sam Waters her entire life. Since she first met him during middle school, she's harbored a secret crush on her best friend's big brother. It's just something she lives with every day--too bad he doesn't notice her. To Sam, Tash is his little sister's best friend and that's it.

Disaster strikes the Waters family, leaving Sam's sister and her husband dead, and their young children in the hands of Sam and Natasha. Suddenly, these two are navigating the loss of people they loved, while trying to figure out parenthood together. The grief is devastating, and raising twins is harder than either of them bargained for. But in working together, and leaning on each other, Sam and Tash learn that family comes in all different shapes and sizes.

The more time he spends with Natasha though, the more Sam realizes just how sweet and sexy she really is. He finds himself slowly but surely falling for her. But when the time comes for him to let her go--will he be able to walk away from the family he's helped build?

I love this author's work. The Big Sky universe is one of my favorites of hers. This book stats off a Big Sky Heroes series. We meet Sam who is a firefighter in this one. I love a good single parent trope. This one has the added twist in that our two main characters are left as guardian's of two young children who lost their parents. Sam is their uncle and Natasha is mom's best friend.
As we have come to expect from this author, their are great moments of humor and some steamy romance. This book had a bit more tension than usually happens in her books. What was also different for me, from other similar tropes I hacc read, is that the H and h just fell in to a natural routine like they had prepared their whole lives to be in the parent role for these children. No animosity between them. In fact, Natasha had a crush on Sam most of her life. Other than coordinating schedules, they just kind of picked up and fell into place.
The tension comes when they stop communicating. But it seemed to me, the story may have been more interesting if there was at least more s3xual tension between them before they jump on each other. Maybe if they knew each other in high school but hadn't seen each other since??
It was a good read. Quick read with some humor and adorable kiddos. Loved seeing the couples from previous Big Sky books!  I will read the nwext one out in this series for sure.
