Review: Middle of Knight

Title: Middle of Knight
Author: Jewel E. Ann
Published: October 10, 2015, Indie
Genre: Suspense, Romance

The living seek forgiveness. The dead seek revenge.

A first love.
A last breath.
A haunting past.

Armed with a sinful past and an equally sinful body, Jackson Knight absolves his vow of celibacy to pursue Sergeant Monaghan’s unsuspecting—older—housekeeper.

Ryn Middleton, on the cusp of turning forty with a snarky daughter, a killer dog, and an abusive ex-husband, finds Jackson’s advances humorous and unbelievable. After intense negotiations including Vera Wang, Ed Sheeran, and sex four times a day, Ryn accepts Jackson’s marriage proposal on their first date.

What could possibly go wrong?

While struggling to lay claim to the woman of the dreams he never had, Jackson is forced to deal with a grief-stricken Jillian trying to hold on to her past without letting go of her future—the doctor who took her heart and the Sergeant who gave her a new one.

Beyond the hope for light, lies the middle of darkness, the illusion of truth, and a haunting past.

Sweet Baby Jesus….just grab an economy sized box of kleenix and sit down to read this in one setting!  Go on,  get it out of your system in one swoop.  Don’t slow down for corners. Don’t pass go. Order in for the night. No distractions.  Dammit, Jewel, you turn me on my ear every single book! Your muse is pure evil sometimes!

DON”T read this if you have not read the first book.  End of Day leaves the reader with more questions than it answers.  Middle of Knight starts to shed some light on things but still there is the feeling of “What the blazes is going on?”  Jackson/Jude and Jillian/Jessica still have enormous secrets.  I just want to step right in and ask them to just tell me already!  Ah! But no, we have to wait for the final installment and based on all the feels in this book—part 3 will be EPIC!

What I liked about Middle of Knight:

1. We get to hear more of Jackson’s story although, I suspect he has many more layers we have yet to see.

2. More than a 1/3 of the book is Jillian/Jessica.  This is important information because book 1 left us hanging and I promise, book 2 will satisfy your Jessica craving.  I love the look back at Jessica!  She is so intertwined with Jillian and I think Jillian is more Jessica than she would like to admit. (I just realized if you have not read the books, this whole sentence makes no sense at all!! Great reason to pick them up and see what the fuss is about!)

3. There are so many emotions ripping across the pages in this book (remember the kleenix!) You cannot help but be affected by the story.

I already know how I want the story to end.  No shares here but believe me when I say this author has hit my prayer list because if things don’t turn out how I want them to go, I will probably go into the biggest book hangover ever seen!  Read the series in order.  There are a few months to go before book 3, Dawn of Forever, is released.  You may want to hold off and get them all 3 at the same time.  Well worth the purchase!

Jewel is a free-spirited romance junkie with a quirky sense of humor.

With 10 years of flossing lectures under her belt, she took early retirement from her dental hygiene career to stay home with her three awesome boys and manage the family business.

After her best friend of nearly 30 years suggested a few books from the Contemporary Romance genre, Jewel was hooked. Devouring two and three books a week but still craving more, she decided to practice sustainable reading, AKA writing.

When she’s not donning her cape and saving the planet one tree at a time, she enjoys yoga with friends, good food with family, rock climbing with her kids, watching How I Met Your Mother reruns, and of course…heart-wrenching, tear-jerking, panty-scorching novels.
