Release Blitz & Review: Forbidden Hearts

Forbidden Hearts by Corinne Michaels is now live!

First rule of being a nanny? Don’t fall for the single dad, even if he is smoking hot.

But that’s exactly what happens when grumpy small-town sheriff Asher Whitlock reluctantly hires me to take care of his daughter for the summer. Neither of us is thrilled with the arrangement, but he’s desperate for help, and I need the money for grad school this fall.

All we need to do is keep our distance and remain professional . . . turns out, that’s easier said than done.

Instead of focusing on my future, all I see is the strong jawline, crystal-blue eyes, and rock-hard body right in front of me. We try to resist each other, but we end up crossing every line until I’m in his bed.

I tell myself it’s just this once.

Okay, twice.

All right, every night.

But it’s got to end–he’s fourteen years older than me, with a kid and a stressful job. Have I mentioned my dad is his boss? Then there’s the past I’m trying to forget. Secrets aren’t easy to keep and mine are getting too big to hide.

Walking away is never simple but when I do, I can’t look back.

Even if it means leaving behind the man I was never meant to love.

I love a single dad trope and Asher as a grumbly, over protective swoony hero is just what the trope deserves.  The author brings us to Sugarloaf--we have been here before in a previous series. This series will follow the Whitlock siblings. Asher is the oldest and has the weight of the world on his shoulders it seems.

Phoebe is in desperate need of a escape while she re-groups her life. Her dad offers her up as a nanny for Asher and his daughter who is deaf.  Everyone falls into a routine. But then the hormones take over. Calm  minds try to prevail but it is no use.

Loved the small town feel of this book. I loved the siblings and their love for each other.  I loved how they embraced Phoebe as one of their own form the start. Asher and Phoebe are made for each other. Yes, you shouldn't lust after the Nanny. But, these two are adults and they lay the ground rules and try to stick to them. I loved having a character who has different abilities and seeing the advocacy needed to make sure there was equality in all she does.

I can't wait to see the rest of the siblings find their HEA.  Great start to the series.  I look forward to catching up with this couple in future books.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
