BLURB

Dalton Barnett

Heaven Hill is my home. They took me in when no one else would, introduced me to my family, and have always been here for me. But now I'm on the outside, not able to help the woman who has my heart.

I'm stuck, unsure of what to do, and struggling badly.

If anyone should be able to make their wife happy, it's their husband right?

Amanda Barnett

Born a bastard, raised a Walker, and now a Barnett, I've never quite known who I am. Not until someone called me Mom.

In the aftermath of the biggest deception our club has ever faced, Dalton and I are trying to cope with the miscarriage of our child. The piece of light and hope we had at the end of the darkest times Heaven Hill has ever seen was snatched from us, and even though I'm trying to cope. It's not going well.

Gone are my feelings of belonging.
Gone is my excitement to face another day.

In its place, I'm hollow.

There are a few things I notice about books that I an drawn to the most. I love to cheer for the underdog. Someone who is so downtrodden but gets a chance to see the sunshine again. I love books where our hero may be a bit rough around the edges but still loves with a giant heart.  And I don't always know this going in, but a love to have a bit of a surprise in the story. Something I wasn't expecting.

So let's talk about HOLLOW and how it matches up to my favorites list.  It couldn't have been a better read if I tried.  This story is about an existing family. Readers of both Heaven Hill and Generations will know Mandy and Dalton. And I have read most all of this author's work.  On the outset, it's an MC story. What we get though, is a profound look at mental health and healing and love.

The story is mostly told from Mandy and Dalton's POV but we also get insight form their son Walker. This was a hard book to read.  Lots of emotion and you just want to scoop them all up and tell them everything will be ok.  Mental health is an ongoing process. Getting to the point where you can say "I am ok with me" is a very long road for some folks.  Mandy puts int he hear work because the bottom line is she loves her family and wants to be able to show them that love.

You can read this as stand alone.  Or enjoy the whole series. Either way--pick this one up. Best I have read by this author by far.
