Blog Tour & Review: Tacker

Tacker (Arizona Vengeance, Book #5)

Sawyer Bennett

Release Date: November 5, 2019

I am not okay.

Fifteen months ago, my life was turned upside down when the plane I was piloting went down. Injured and trapped in the wreckage, I had to watch my fiancĂ©e die a painfully slow death, which is something that can really mess with your head.

Since that day, I’ve had little desire to do much of anything. Except play hockey, that is. Because that is the one place where the bad memories are banished and I can escape my pain.

But off the ice, I’m spiraling out of control. Losing the grip on my life and putting myself and my career in danger. Now, thanks to a string of bad decisions, I’ve been ordered to complete therapy in order to stay on the team.

The problem? Nora Wayne, my beautiful and somewhat unconventional therapist. I can’t buy into the brand of happy clappy crap this woman is feeding me. What could she possibly understand about the type of loss that I’ve suffered? How does she know anything about finding happiness after losing the most important person in your life?

Turns out, I’ve got a lot to learn, and she’s just the person I need to break through those walls I’ve erected.

I am not okay.
But for the first time in a long time, I know that I will be.

We all read books for different reasons. We get lost in new worlds. Dream about interesting people. Learn something new. What we seldom get is what it's like to just be human. Sometimes it's good to be reminded of that frailty every now and again. This book will bring that home for you.

Tacker has been on the fringe in every book so far in this series. We know he is not in a good place. His fiance has dies in a plane crash that he was piloting. His guilt eventually caused a drunk driving crash and he is benched from the Vengeance Hockey team.

The hands on owner gives him a chance at redemption. Does he know that Nora's unique therapy is what will get through to Tacker? Who knows. But what does happen is the start of a beautiful friendship. Tacker has a long way to go to heal and love himself. His friendship with Nora gets him motivated to change his direction in life.

This is a book about acceptance. Accepting ourselves. Accepting circumstances beyond our control. Accepting help. The development of friendship between Tacker and Nora and between Tacker and his teammates plays a big part in the healing process. It's a slow burn between Tacker and Nora, but when they finally break down all the walls, they are just perfect together.

In the US we tend to stigmatize mental health. People feel less than. Even burly hockey players can have depression. It's ok to need to get some support in order to fell better about yourself.

Thank you for giving us this story. Best of the series I think.
