Release Blitz & Review: The Things We Do

Blurb:

Layne left her childhood sweetheart behind in exchange for the perfect life, but that didn't quite go as planned.

After her husband's murder, she's forced to return to her hometown with her young daughter to start over. Soon, her past catches up with her. There's only one man who can protect her and her daughter, but can her heart handle it?

Kyler is vice president of the Folsom Renegades Motorcycle Club. When Layne left, she took a piece of his heart with her. But now that she's back, he needs to know if she's safe. Against his father's orders, he starts investigating her husband's death.

When it turns out that someone is after her, he risks everything to save her. Even if it means putting not only himself but also his MC in danger.

Review

This is the first book by this author in this genre. I love a single parent trope and well as a good MC book. This one leans dark so be sure to read the content warnings.

Layne witnesses the horrible murder of her husband and then decides to pick up her daughter and move back to the town she grew up in. With no parents to support her, she is at least looking for familiarity. Unfortunately in her mind, her past is tied to the MC.

Kyler remembers all the things about Layne and is willing to pick right back up. But she needs to trust again and her trouble may have followed her to their small town.

Great first book in the series.  You get a good sense as to how the MC is run. We don't see too many old ladies but Kyler's mom is a sweetie.  I like that Kyler is patient with Layne's feelings but not with her safety. I like his good friends and his brother. I am very much looking forward to the next book in the series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
