From New York Times bestselling author, Rebecca Zanetti, comes a new Dark Protectors/Rebels Novella…

Vengeance and revenge are the only forces driving vampire soldier Noah Siosal since losing his brother to an enemy he’s been unable to find. He’s searched every corner of the globe, going through adversaries and piling up bodies until finally getting a lead. The last place he wants to be is in a ridiculous anger management group with people expressing feelings instead of taking action. Until one fragile human, a green-eyed sweetheart being stalked by danger, catches his eye. One touch, and he realizes vengeance can’t be anywhere near her.

Anger and self-preservation are the only motivations Abby Miller needs or wants right now. Falsely accused of attacking the man who’s terrorized her for years, she’s forced as a plea bargain to attend an anger management counseling group with people with some serious rage issues, while learning true self defense on the side. Yet a man, one more primal than any she’s ever met, draws her in a way and into a world deadlier than she’s ever imagined. He offers her protection, but she finds the fight is really for his heart, and she’s ready to battle.

EXCERPT:

One firm knuckle lifted her chin, and she fought him, but finally faced his dark eyes. God, she was exhausted. She’d fight again tomorrow. Tonight, she needed sleep.

His gaze searched her face. “The keys are in the ignition. Take the truck and go wherever you want. You can borrow it until I get your tires fixed.” He started to take a step back.

Going against all reason, she grabbed the hem of his shirt and pulled him toward her. “I-I can’t take your truck.” What the heck was he talking about?

He sighed, his body rolling with the movement. “Listen. You’re cold and scared, and you need to get warm. You’re frightened of me, so I’m letting you take my truck to get to safety. Now go, and I’ll handle your tires.”

The words barely computed. She swallowed, looking up at his strong jawline. With the darkness behind him, he appeared even larger than usual, as if that were possible. He’d carried her through the storm, and now he was letting her go. He’d asked for nothing. So she levered up and kissed him.

Shock ripped through her system from one touch.

He jerked and another low growl rumbled up from his chest.

She leaned back, her mouth opened in an ‘o’, her body flashing hot in a way she’d never felt before. Wild and free and alive. Dangerously on the edge of something...new.

His jaw ticked. Tension rolled off him, steaming up the windows, even though the door remained open.

She gingerly reached up and touched her still sparking bottom lip, her gaze seeking his. Had he felt that? If so, what the heck was it? “Who are you?” she asked.

He barked out a laugh and slid one firm hand along her face. The entire side of her face. “I’m the guy you just kissed. Kind of. Care to explain why?”

“Kind of?” She barely kept herself from turning into that heated palm. “What do you mean? Kind of?”

His chin lifted just enough. “That wasn’t a kiss, baby. Not even close.”

Don’t say it. Don’t say it. For the love of all that is holy and sane, don’t say it. “What is a kiss?” she asked. Yep. She’d said it.

“You want me to show you?” he rumbled, his eyes somehow looking even darker than usual.

No. Definitely no. Not in a million years. “Yes,” she whispered.

He didn’t ask twice. Leaning down, he drew her partially up, and his lips took hers. Firm and warm, he kissed her, the touch gentle velvet over hard steel. His lips molded to hers, softly probing, sliding warmth down her jawline to touch every inch of her body.

She sighed, leaning up, opening her mouth in acceptance. Her eyelashes fluttered shut, and she let herself just feel. Something good and strong and hot. Then she tentatively kissed him back.

Excerpt

As he waited for his breathing to calm, I took a moment to marvel in the bulk of the man lying on top of me. My fingers slid across golden skin colored with a collage of intricate pictures, symbols and words. My palm curved around strong deltoid muscles that were well-rounded and powerful. He was big. Strong. Lethal. And probably not interested in being the father of my baby.
The thought made me shift uneasily beneath him. I had to get out of there. I needed to be alone to collect my thoughts and find my senses. I wiggled and Caleb rolled off me. I thought he would let me go but he didn’t. Instead he turned my face
towards him and kissed me hard on the mouth.
But I was leaving. I sat up and began looking for my panties on the floor. Finding them wedged under the corner of the bed, I slipped them on and began hunting for my skirt.
“Where are you going?” He asked.
“I have to go.”
“Why are you always running away from me?” He said, an amused sparkle in his eyes. “Will I see you again?”
I paused and looked at him over my shoulder. “Do you want to?”
He grinned and I was momentarily taken back by how beautiful it was.
How beautiful he was.
“Hell darlin’, I don’t want you to leave.”
I resumed looking for my skirt. “I have to leave. I have things to do.”
I found my skirt in a tangle with my shirt at the foot of the bed.
“At least let me give you a ride home.” He sat up.
“Its fine. I can call a cab.” I stood up and slipped my shirt on.
“I’m not letting you take a cab.”
“Really its fine.”
He climbed off the bed, unfazed by his nakedness, and began looking for his boxer shorts.
I paused to drink in the fine display of his muscular body and his still swollen manhood swinging between his powerful thighs. It was obvious he took very good care of his body.
He slipped on his jeans and by the time I had buttoned my blouse and found my phone and
shoes, he was fully dressed and securing his wallet chain to his jeans.
“Ready?” He
asked.
There was
no point arguing.
As he
opened the bedroom door, I mentally braced myself. I wasn’t looking forward to the walk of shame through the clubhouse. But the hallway was quiet and the clubhouse was still. Sometime in the night the music had stopped and the party
had wound down.
As soon as I entered the bar, the stench of last nights partying hit me like a bat to the face and I had to hold my breath.  The bar was littered with snoring bikers and the odd club girl asleep where they had passed out. Bottles lay scattered and spilled everywhere. Stale booze and body odor were ripe in the air. Caleb took my hand and led me through the mess, stepping over discarded bottles and sleeping bodies. Musty smoke glittered in the dusty rays of sunlight bursting into the room from a window above the jukebox.
Across the room, an older biker was quietly having sex with a large, partially dressed woman up against the pool table. His jeans were down around his ankles and his eyes were closed as he lazily rocked into her. The slap, slap of her large wobbly boobs against the pool table broke the stillness of the morning.
Further away, a naked woman lay slumped at the base of a stripper pole with everything open and on display. She hugged a half-spilled bourbon bottle and snored loudly. As we passed by her, Caleb shook his head and grabbed a discarded shirt from a nearby chair to cover her.
“Is she alright?” I whispered.
“Yeah, that’s Candy. It’s not the first time she’s passed out there and it won’t be the last.”
I glanced around me. This place. These people. This was Caleb’s world. And it reeked of bad choices. Nausea roiled in
the pit of my stomach and I barely made it outside in time before losing the contents of my stomach.
“Jesus, are you okay?” Caleb asked, coming up behind me.
I gestured for him to give me a moment as another wave of nausea washed over me and I vomited again.
“You drink too much?” he asked when I finally straightened and walked over to him. “I don’t remember you being drunk.”
I shook my head. “I didn’t drink a thing.”
He handed me a helmet. “Are you okay to ride? Or do you need a minute?”
“I’ll be okay.”
He led me over to a row of motorcycles parked alongside the clubhouse. His was a big black beast with lots of chrome gleaming in the early morning light.
Before he climbed on, he touched my hand. “Are you sure you’re ok?”
I smiled brightly but it was fake because I felt weird. Out of place. I didn’t belong there.
“Yes. I’m fine.” I said, very aware that I needed to get out of there. I did up my helmet and climbed onto the back of his bike. “Lets ride.”

Three assassins and a... baby? Don't miss the first in this sexy, fast-paced romantic suspense series--TRIGGERMAN INC.--from New York Times bestseller Marie Harte.

Noel "Ice" Cavanaugh's method is foolproof. Get in, do the job, get out, melt away without a trace. Neat. Tidy. No mistakes.

This time, though, something isn't right. Two somethings. First, a random attack that feels not-so-random. Then he discovers a baby on his doorstep with a note claiming it's his. Unfortunately, the sexy neighbor who found the boy first has too many questions in her eyes to ignore.

When her handsome, mysterious neighbor suddenly asks her out on a date, Adeline Rose has suspicions he's fishing for help with his bundle of...joy? By the date's end, she's convinced Noel's just as distant as he seems--until a scorching goodnight kiss burns away all thoughts of being careful.

Now Noel has more than one problem on his hands. Splitting baby duty between three badass assassins, figuring out how to fit in more time with Addy...and keeping both of them safe from the danger that's followed him home.

This book has been previously released.

Warning: Beware a killer with a heart of gold, a baby who needs constant changing, and unrequited love that's actually quite...requited.

3.5 Stars

The synopsis got me right away on this one. # tough guys trying to raise a baby?? Yep. Sign up up to see that for sure. What the author delivers is a great intro to the series and some pretty action packed suspense at the same time.

Noel and his companions are assassins for hire. You do not want to mess with these guys. Someone leaves a baby on Noel's doorstep-well, with his neighbor and a criptic message about the baby resulting from their time in Mexico. As they work to solve this mystery, Noel and Adeline get closer than he has ever allowed a woman in his life. When they finally knock down all the walls and just let things happen----ssssteam!

Here is my picky pick. And I will preface it with saying my day job is working with young children who are developmentally delayed. The baby is a the catalyst in this story. I couldn't get past the irregularities in not only the expectations for a 4 month old child but also flipping from infant to toddler when describing the child. I found myself going back to the beginning a couple of times to re-read the age of the baby. Other people may read this and think nothing of it. The baby is going to be in EVERY book--right? That's the premise of the story. But to me, the needs of a 4 month old are very different than the needs of a toddler, and I really felt someone should have caught the inconsistencies.

Enough of that---I did enjoy the book and I most eagerly look forward to reading the next two.
