Review

 I first fell for this author when I read her novella as part of the Born to Ride anthology.  I hadn't really read MC books, so this world was new to me.  I can tell you, I am HOOKED.  This series focuses on the  Storm MC  located in Australia, but the author does a good job bringing the reader up to speed on things that are typically "Australian." There is violence in this club but the books are not as graphic as some other MC books.  

This book is about Blade, half brother to Madison and Scott and son of the current President of the Storm MC.  He is not in the MC world but operates his business in a similar fashion when it is warranted.  Blade runs a legit construction business and is always trying to protect innocents.  His relationship with his father has always been messed up, abusive, loveless.  Blade and Scott have been working together and trying to build some type of relationship.  Blade does not do relationships of any kind in order to protect his heart.  Starting the bridge with his half siblings opens him up to the possibility of more.  He just needs the right woman to help him toward the light.  Layla Reed is just that person. Layla has a messed up family dynamic as well, but through it all she has become a very independent and fierce heroine.  She matches Blade toe to toe and in doing so, wins his heart.  

Both Blade and Layla were looking for the other half of their souls.  When they get together, the sexual tension and chemistry is off the chart.  Blade is bossy and Layla loves it!

It was great to catch up on all of the MC guys from the previous books in the series.  If this is new to you, start with "STORM" and get introduced to the whole club.  Each book is packed with hot alpha males and wonderful ladies to keep them in line.  I look forward to reading the rest of the series!

Review

This is the 3rd novel and 4th story in the Hard Ink series.  I have to say, Marz probably is the front runner for me so far.  I had all kinds of feels for Easy and Jenna, but Marz--so much courage and a wonderful attitude on life-plays the Hero very well!  He falls so sweetly for Emilie, it takes him by surprise.  He isn't used to loving or being loved and can't quite label what he feels for Emilie.  I appreciate the author for writing characters and story lines that allow for the character to break down emotionally and have supports and encouragement so that the character can try to boost themselves back to "normal."

The series is romantic suspense and it follows the ongoing mystery about who set the Special Forces team up.  This story brings us closer to the resolution.  There are some tense moments and some graphic scenes. I am amazed that the whole story line has only encompassed a couple of weeks over all of these books.  The author does a great job fleshing out all of the characters.  Each novel is like revisiting old friends.  I am looking forward to the last two books.  Next up is Hard to Be Good, April 2015.

If you haven't read Laura Kaye before, this is a great series to get started on.  Be sure to check out her other work as well.

Review

I absolutely loved Shane and Kace from the first book in this series, UNDEFEATED.  RIpp had his story played out in the next two books and now finally we get the rest of Shane and Kace's story. Shane has come a long way since he met Kace, but there is still much of that scared little boy inside of him.  The story is heart wrenching at times and the reader can't be sure there will be a HEA. Without too much spoilerage, let me just say that my day job is working with people who have disabilities and I was so pleasantly surprised at how this topic was handled for these characters.

 The story continues with the pregnancies of Vee and Kace.  Shane reflects on his relationship with Ripp:
   
"There are children all over the earth who have an uncle.  Some have many.  But as sure as I stood before him, I knew no child on or of this earth would have an uncle who would love him more or protect him better than Michael Allen Ripton."

In typical Scott Hildreth fashion, his characters morph through self reflection and external supports. Shane has had obstacles throughout his life and the journey in this book brings him to some resolution. 

"Life has the ability to change, and sometimes we're the beneficiary of these changes....... Some Changes in our lives are self-imposed, while others simply happen.  We're forced to accept the changes which occur in our life naturally.  When we choose to make changes we're always left to wonder if our decision to do so is in our best interest.  There's only one way to know for sure. Make changes."

A very good read.  Not a ton of MMA action but more the world building of the MMA community.  The only part of the story that didn't sit well with me, and maybe I just need to digest it more, is the change in Kace's behavior in their sexy times.  I'm not sure it was necessary or that it was believable.  No more hints.  Read for yourself and decide how you feel about it. If the series ends here, I would be very satisfied.  If not, A-Train intrigues me and I feel he has a story to tell as well.  If you haven't read this author yet, go check him out!

Ahh!  Love that Montgomery Ink crew sooo much!  It was great to peek at the spunky Callie to see what makes her tick.  And Morgan---so alpha male.  Chemistry and sexy times between these two were off the hook!!! I was so happy to see both of them stand up for themselves and their feelings regardless of the outside world.  Be sure to check out the rest of this series if you haven't read this author before.  You won't be sorry!

Cari and SIdney are new authors to me.  Their stories are equally intriguing.  Lots of inked testosterone flowing through this anthology.  Loved Slater in Takedown.  Would love to see a book about his brother next!  Overall 4.5 hearts for the selection.

About the Author

This is the segment where you learn a little more about who I am, so here's what I can tell you:  I drink copious amounts of vitamin water placed precariously close to my laptop while writing. These are two healthy habits I have no intention of breaking. I'm a transplant living in the south, but I was born in the 70's to a military dad who moved us around the world.

When I'm not writing (which is all the time), I'm hunting down Indie music, watching movies, reading, eating Tex-Mex, discovering new ways to humiliate myself bowling, and burning up my laptop battery on the Internet. I have a relaxed, easy-going personality and don't like drama. I live with a cat who thinks she is a dog, or a goat (she eats plastic, so I'm not sure which).

Throughout my life, I've had insomnia. Counting sheep never worked and eventually I would imagine those sheep were the sole source of food after an apocalyptic battle where only thousands survived. I made up stories in a futile attempt to bore myself to sleep. The problem was, I got so wrapped up in my "head stories" that I would continue them through the following nights, changing it up each time to make it more exciting. Eventually, I started writing my ideas down - creating short stories, and then I discovered my love for poetry.

It's almost embarrassing how many spiral notebooks and stacks of paper I have ofpoetry and lyrics.

Another passion: digital art. I design all my book covers, marketing, and series art. I'm a very visual person and pursued photography as an avid hobby for many years.

I am not a YA author (I feel like I have to state this only because I've had a few people ask), but I think it's wonderful there are so many books available to teens in Urban Fantasy and Paranormal.

I am finally doing what I have always wanted to do: giving my characters a pulse through writing full time. I focus on adult urban fantasy romance, but I don't like labels and I enjoy blending genres to break out of the confines of predictability.

But it's what I love to do.

Review

Toni Aleo brings us another chapter in her Assassins Hockey series.  Karson King is new to the team but we originally met him in college in "Tangled in the Laces", a novella.  As he left for the NHL draft, he left behind Lacey Martin and his heart.  The book jumps ahead ten years and these two happen upon each other again.  It is very clear from the first cab ride, that their feelings for each other have not changed.  Theirs is a match made in heaven if only their own insecurities, trust issues and family would work in their favor as well.  The chemistry between these two is spot on but there needs to be more in order to  make a relationship work.  Love the King family and their relationships with each other.  This book contains probably the MOST evil villain I have read in a book in a long time (well maybe Voldemort was worse!) Lacey's father, Nate Martin.  Not one bit of nice in that man! Can not even argue that his actions came from his heart, because they were meant to cause pain and suffering for his own selfish reasons.  The final message is strong: stay true to your heart and your life will be complete. 

Overall a great read.  Good to see the rest of the Assassin's guys and their families again.  Looking forward to the next book in the series.

NO SPOILERS! Ok, having said that, I can't tell you a whole lot about the book other than it is one intense ride and there are no opportunities to get off until you get to the last page. Not what I was expecting at all. SOOO glad Jasinda went out of her box to write this! If you read Alpha, you will want to read Beta. Be prepared to set aside reading time because there are no good stopping points. Thank you for telling this story. If there is more Roth to come, down the road, that would be great! If not, perfectly satisfied with the story as is.

REVIEW

Oh my goodness!  I am such a Geek Girl!  This series had me giggling so much and totally geeking out on these two computer nerds.  This is the final book for Adam and Mia and you really should start with the first book "At Any Price."  So what happens when two geeks get together? Two people who have not really ever had a relationship with a member of the opposite sex? The chemistry was swoon worthy.  However, there were times I wanted to through my Kindle because they just were so stymied in building a healthy relationship.  This book starts right where the second book ends. Mistakes are made, tears shed, hearts broken.  This series will have your emotions all over the place and to me that is the test of a good author.  I FELT the pain and the angst these lovers were going through.  There are plenty of light moments in these books( the online gaming, Star Wars and LOTR arguments, etc) but the third book is also full of life's journey moments.  I loved how the author tied in the theme of the on line game with what was happening with Adam and Mia.  This author was new to me prior to reading this series but I believe I would read more of her work.

The story continues with the friends who met in Vegas.  Three girls, three guys.  This is Finn and Harlow's tale.  The chemistry is spontaneous between these two.  Spending time in California on business, Finn becomes the distraction that Harlow needs from the heartbreak happening at home. 

"It's Vegas all over again: rowdy, with his palm on my ass and his other hand digging so hard into my hip I look forward to the tiny bruises I know I'll find tomorrow."

 At some point the friends become more and neither one wants to admit they need each other until it's too late.  

"He could only do rowdy because he felt what I felt: that whip-crack unleashing that comes when you meet the person who frees you."

Trust is a huge issue between these two and it is ultimately what causes a rift between them.  Harlow is so stubborn! I found myself wanting to knock some sense into her.  She just wasn't willing to accept Finn's love freely.  

It was great to see the rest of the gang playing a part in this story.  The authors continue to weave a great tale of love, friendship, trust and belonging.  Start with book one, just so you have the background.  However, this book could be a stand alone.  Looking forward to the 3rd book out in 2015.
