Last Light
Title: last light Night Owl Trilogy Book 2
Author: M. Pierce
Published: 10-28-14, St. Martins
Genre: Adult/Erotica
Matt Sky is missing. After a solo ascent of Longs Peak that left only a large blood stain, tatters of climbing clothing, and animal tracks in the snow, he is presumed dead.
Hannah Catalano is guarding a secret:
She knows Matt is alive, hidden away in the mountains from the prying public
eye. At Matt’s memorial service, she does her best to navigate his family’s
grief and her own crippling loneliness, but it soon becomes clear that Matt’s
brothers want more than closure. Nate Sky is channeling his pain into a
vengeful crusade to track down the author of Night Owl, a book that charts the
last days of Matt’s life with sexy but scandalous accuracy. Seth Sky is bent on
getting Hannah into his bed.
As Hannah tries to thwart Nate’s
lawsuit and fend off Seth’s advances, Matt struggles to enjoy the solitude he’s
sacrificed so much for. Miserable when they are apart, but terrified to expose
their secret by being seen together, the two strive desperately to maintain
their relationship...until Hannah is put in danger, and Matt’s secrets,
especially the ones he’s been keeping from Hannah, finally catch up with him.
Review
I am still nursing a book hangover on this one but here are my initial thoughts. M., you have knocked it out of the ball park! Many times, the second book of a trilogy can seem like a stepping stone to the finale. Not so with this installment. The characters we loved in Night Owl continue to develop and grow. Hannah is so strong and so in love with Matt. She overlooks his flaws and takes him at face value. Matt--tortured, angsty, sexy, and a bit mentally fragile. Very human and his success and failures come out in the writing of this book. Matt and Hannah's sexy times were off the chart-- sizzling hot! Secondary characters get flushed out in this book and we learn more about Matt's family. I did not appreciate Seth and Mel and their interference with the love of Hannah and Matt. Made me want to throw my Kindle at times to knock some sense into them all! But, they did enhance the story overall. Of course it wouldn't be M without a few twists to the story. Loved, loved, loved this book!! <3 <3 Can not wait for the final installment "After Dark" due out in March 2015. Preorder After Dark now on Amazon!5 Hearts
