I thought maybe I had read this author before but this is actually my first book by her.  I was intrigued by the blurb.  Juliet, Danny and  Luke all have a history.  There is soooo much baggage goin gon in this story. 

Two issues I had with the book. It's told in alternating chapters present day and back in time. I am not a fan--even before this book--not a fan. A chapter would just be getting to something interesting--some revelation and then we would go back in time for the next chapter. I wanted ot learn more but I wanted it all revealed in somewhat of an order. 

The other issue was the treatment of Juliet.  I could not suspend my disbelief enough to get into the story at face value. She was mistreated by just about everyone. Even those "caring" for her used her more like hired help. Danny was so wishy washy with her.  I kept wanting SOMEONE, anyone to stand up for her--maybe most of all Juliet.  She just took the maltreatment and was disregarded when she did try to do something about it. 

Angst is not my thing. If you like that, this book is for you. It is loaded cover to cover with characters wavering between right/wrong, should I /shouldn't I. 

I would potentially read this author again. Just not a fan of this book.

I love reading this author because she almost always guarantees you a mind f**k within the story.  I pick up her books no question asked.  Her writing is always well thought out and well paced.  I do not watch Yellowstone so that little clue by the author did not help me decide to read or not. 

Here is what I can say---If you like DRAMA---big D drama with lots of angst--this is the book for you.  I liked the early relationship with Indie and Milo. But talk about a distorted family life!  Where was the school or the neighbors?  Anyone to help the poor girl out?  

But then things get twisty as Indie gets sent away to school.  The whole family is messed up and it doesn't get better.  Indie's heart is the one that breaks through all of this.  Why she forgives is beyond me.  NOTHING goes right for this girl/young woman.  And Milo is milk toast.  

That's it. Not a trope I ever read because it makes me twitchy. You  may like it if it is your thing.
